Khao Yai National Park, just a few hours from Bangkok, is one of Thailand’s most enchanting escapes—a place where lush forests, rolling hills, and wildlife encounters await. I’ve been showing travelers around this beautiful region for years, and today I’ll take you through an unforgettable tour filled with nature, culture, and the little surprises that make Khao Yai magical.
Day 1: Arrival and First Impressions
Our adventure begins early in the morning. Guests are picked up from their hotel in Bangkok, and we set off on a scenic drive toward Khao Yai. The landscape changes gradually—from bustling city streets to serene countryside dotted with sugarcane fields and grazing cows.

After about three hours, we arrive at Khao Yai National Park, Thailand’s first national park and a UNESCO World Heritage site. Our first stop is the Visitor Center, where I introduce guests to the park’s history and wildlife. From here, the adventure begins.
Waterfalls and Wildlife Encounters
One of the highlights of Khao Yai is its stunning waterfalls. We start with Haew Suwat Waterfall, made famous in a Hollywood movie. The sound of water crashing onto the rocks below is breathtaking. Guests love taking photos on the wooden platforms, and for those feeling adventurous, a short hike leads to more secluded viewing spots.

Wildlife spotting is always thrilling. With a bit of patience, it’s common to see gibbons swinging through trees, deer grazing near the trails, and even the occasional elephant herd in the distance. I always carry binoculars and a field guide, helping guests identify birds, mammals, and rare plants along the way.

Lunch with a View
After a morning full of adventure, we head to a local restaurant that serves authentic Thai dishes, many made from ingredients grown right in the Khao Yai region. Guests often rave about the stir-fried morning glory, green curry, and fresh tropical fruits. While enjoying lunch, we overlook the rolling hills—a perfect spot to relax and take in the scenery.

Vineyards and Sunset

Khao Yai isn’t just about nature; it’s also a hub for local wine. We visit a vineyard and winery, where guests can taste Thai wine while strolling through neatly lined grapevines. The golden hour in Khao Yai is magical—sunset paints the sky in oranges and pinks, reflecting on the distant mountains. This is also a great moment for photography enthusiasts
Dinner and Night Safari

As the day winds down, we check in at a cozy resort tucked in the hills. After a refreshing rest, we enjoy a Thai dinner under the stars. Later, we take a night safari—a guided drive through the park after dark. Using soft spotlights, we often spot nocturnal creatures like barking deer, civets, and owls. The thrill of spotting wildlife at night is unlike anything in the daytime tour.
Day 2: Exploring Local Culture and Scenic Roads

The second day starts with a calm morning hike along nature trails. Birds sing as mist rises from the forest floor—perfect for meditation or photography. Afterward, we explore Khao Yai’s local villages, where artisans sell handmade crafts, fresh produce, and local snacks. Guests often enjoy interacting with villagers, learning about their traditions, and picking up unique souvenirs.

Before heading back to Bangkok, we make a final stop at a scenic viewpoint, offering panoramic views of the park’s valleys and distant mountains—a perfect farewell to Khao Yai.
